Since 1945, celebrations have been held worldwide to recognize and honor the important work of the United Nations as it strives for development, security, peace and human rights for all. The United Nations Association of Center County and its Council of Organization invites you to its 2014 celebration dinner and program.   

Each year, UNACC focuses on a topic important to United Nations member states and their citizens. This year UNACC is focusing on UN Peacekeeping. 

Currently, peacekeeping operations are located in sixteen hotspots around the world where over 105,000 uniformed police and military personnel from 122 countries work with nearly 17,000 civilians to bring stability to conflict zones
Our Keynote Speaker is Ken Payumo, Chief of the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations Support Section, is responsible for the security of all UN Peacekeeping operations worldwide. In 2014, he was recognized as a Humanitarian Hero at the UN’s World Humanitarian Day for his efforts in Bor, South Sudan where he single-handedly stood up to South Sudanese military to protect the 12,000 refugees who had fled to his UN compound for safety. His courage and brave actions saved thousands of lives. Mr. Payumo has worked for the United Nations for 16 years and before that he was New York City Police Officer, an attorney with the US Dept. of Justice, and taught Public Management and International Affairs at several
